Litany of Gratitude for Staff with a Servant’s Heart

by Rev. Kerry Greenhill © 2012

Let us give thanks for the ministry of small details:

For greetings offered and doors unlocked
for attendance entered and reminders sent
for expenses processed and checks prepared
we give thanks for your service in Christ’s name.

For floors mopped and polished and carpets vacuumed
for lilies ordered and mail received
for bulletins copied and paraments changed
we give thanks for your service in Christ’s name.

For canned goods collected and minutes recorded
for windowsills dusted and toilets scrubbed
for supplies purchased and activity bags prepared
we give thanks for your service in Christ’s name.

For records of birth, death, growth, and giving
for willingness to set up tables and put away chairs
for stockings stuffed and CROPWalks planned
we give thanks for your service in Christ’s name.

For every act of love and hospitality,
no matter how small or seemingly unnoticed,
we give thanks for your ministry and spirit of service
to our congregation and to all in Christ’s name.
May God’s peace dwell within you
and Christ’s love go before you
and the Holy Spirit guide you
to find joy and fulfillment
in the next stage of your journey,
wherever it may lead.
Amen.
