United Methodist Deacons Celebrate 20 Years of Servant Leadership

In 1996, the General Conference of The United Methodist Church changed our denominational understanding of the diaconate, creating the Order of Deacon as a second path within ordained ministry. This year, we celebrate 20 years of clergy leading ministries characterized by Word, Service, Compassion, and Justice.

The General Board of Higher Education and Ministry created a video highlighting several different ways in which Deacons serve in the church and in the world, and Sacred Stones Ministries is honored to be included (our segment starts about 7 minutes in):

As the 2016 General Conference meets in Portland, Oregon, this week, we celebrate this anniversary with our Deacon colleagues around the world and pray that God will continue to lead individuals, communities, and the wider church to new expressions of the Body of Christ, embodying God’s love and desire to bless all people with fullness of life.
