A new year has just begun to settle in
like a step into fresh snow on a Colorado mountain
unsure and kicking up powder.
The year is hesitant;
not quite comfortable with which direction to take
it seems like this has all been done before.
Tiny footprints, little changes,
until those first tentative steps
grow into sure ones
in the freshly fallen powder of a new year,
until those little changes
build into grace-filled determination.
And so, the sacred space of time we now enter;
and the tentative steps
are supported by the sacred spaces we have already trod.
Our task, this year, is to identify the sacred space we are called to next,
firmly placing our sacred stories,
like the sacred stones we claim as our name,
into the uncertainty of tomorrow.
