Palm/Passion Sunday Drama: Things We Thought We Knew, by Rev. Kerry Greenhill

crucifix-NotreDameLent, the season of preparation for Holy Week and Easter, begins in less than three weeks, with Ash Wednesday on February 18. Of course, if you’re a pastor, you’re not only aware of this, you may have already been working on plans for worship, preaching, Bible studies, Christian education, small groups, and more for a few months now.

For those who are looking for something a little different for Palm/Passion Sunday this year, we offer a dramatic reading for five voices, “Things We Thought We Knew.” At approximately 16 minutes in length, this drama works well in place of the sermon on Palm/Passion Sunday, as it explores the reflections of five people who witnessed the life and death of Jesus, from the perspective of the day after his crucifixion.

This readers’ theater-style script does not require memorization, though rehearsal is important for the readers to be comfortable with their lines, and for the sake of pacing, volume, and inflection. The suggestions for staging are intentionally simple.

Visit our new Resources page to download a preview version of “Things We Thought We Knew,” or to purchase the script for performance. We appreciate your support of Sacred Stones Ministries!
