Friends and colleagues keep asking how Sacred Stones is doing, and I am always pleased to tell them how much interest people are expressing in our model of shared and supportive ministries. In fact, the response has been so positive that I (Kerry) have not had time to stay current on communicating all our news! So it’s time for an update.

1.  Rev. Debra’s young adult mission trip to do flood recovery work in the Lyons area in June was a resounding success, with eight participants working, eating, praying, and building community side by side. She’ll be sharing more about that soon!

2. Rev. Kerry’s July planning retreat for pastors, Working the Soil: Preparing for Fall & Advent, also went very well, with five pastors taking time out from busy schedules to learn, share, pray, and plan together for worship at their respective congregations.

Our official letter from the IRS

3. We are thrilled to announce that we got word in early August that the IRS has approved our application for federal tax-exempt status under section 501(c)(3) of the tax code – which means that we can officially accept tax-deductible donations as a non-profit organization! Never has a letter from the IRS been read with such enthusiasm!

4. Rev. Denise and Rev. Nani are offering an excellent series of children’s ministry workshops this fall and winter that are sponsored by the Conference Board of Global Ministries: check out our Events page for details.
